Breathe Easy USA is non profit that empowers people with better healthcare choices
Disgruntled with the healthcare system in india 2012 we started Breathe Easy India decided to empower patients by creating COPD support groups. Little did we realize that this was a the tip of a very large iceberg. We learnt that COPD was the second leading cause of death in India and there was no awareness around this issue. To our surprise more women then men suffer from lung diseases and that too in rural India where their prime source for cooking is biomass fuel. The correlation between environment , COPD and Cancer is well established and we could not ignore any of these causes. For us to create an impact we had to bring about change at grassroots level by changing the thought process of women, youth and children.
In 2018 our managing trustee Aanchal Bhatia moved to Houston Texas where she met Despo Caldwell who was struggling with the care of her mother who was ill with lung cancer and the treatment she received. They both are passionate about empowering people with better healthcare choices.
In 2020 they opened a state-of-the-art personalized medicine clinic in Houston, The Sydenham clinic where they provide private health management. They realized that there is a need in the community for patient advocacy and guidance on health decision making.
